New Mobile Adoption Center Planned for the Bronx!

August, 2014

Mobile Adoption Center in the BronxAnimal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) is on its way to securing a second Mobile Adoption Center, this one dedicated to bringing pets to people in the Bronx! The vehicle and staffing for it will be made possible through a $250,000 grant secured by State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), in this year’s state budget. The addition of this Mobile Adoption Center will enable AC&C to promote pet adoptions to even more homes throughout the Bronx.

Senator Klein made the announcement on August 17 at the Riverdale Children’s Musical Festival in Seton Park. Cats and dogs were available for adoption on the premises, via AC&C’s existing Mobile Adoption Center, which was generously funded by the ASPCA and FENWICK KEATS Real Estate.

Senator Klein with kitten“The safe and quality care of animals has always been a top priority of mine and nobody does it better than Animal Care and Control of New York City. The sweet animals they have in their care deserve happy homes and with this new mobile pet adoption vehicle we’ll connect those animals to more loving Bronx families,”said State Senator Jeff Klein.

“The new Mobile Adoption Center will enable AC&C to have a greater presence in the Bronx, and enhance our ability to find loving homes for our wonderful cats and dogs,” said Risa Weinstock, executive director of AC&C. “All of us at AC&C are grateful to Senator Klein for his support and his clear commitment to NYC animals.”

AC&C currently has a receiving center in the Bronx, which does not accommodate adoptions. Animals can be surrendered at the Bronx location, but they are then transferred to AC&C Care Centers. The new Mobile Adoption Center (or "MAC"), dedicated solely to the Bronx, will travel throughout the borough.
