What to Know/Bring
Welcome to Clear The Shelters 2019! Here's what you need to know/bring to ensure a smooth adoption process:
- Adoptions open at 10am, but the line starts forming early in the morning.
- Print and fill out our adoption questionnaire (en español)
- Bring a valid photo ID (state ID, drivers license, government ID of some kind)
- You must be 18 years of age or older as well as have a photo ID and proof of address
- You may be required to pay an $8.50 licensing fee.

While You're There
While you are waiting in line you will go through a review process to ensure that you have all of the paperwork needed to adopt. This will also provide the opportunity to ask any general questions. Once that is complete you will wait for your number to be called, and you will go into the adoption area where you can browse the available boroughbreds. We recommend downloading our free app to view available animals while you wait in line.

Time to Adopt
After you've selected a pet for adoption, you will have a counseling session before your adoption is processed. If you are interested in adopting a pet that cannot go home due to needing spay/neuter surgery, you may be able to leave a deposit of $150 to take the pet home. If you are unable to do that, you may pick your new pet up at a later date after the surgery.
