| Welcome to our new series, A Day in the Life, where we highlight different roles of the ACC team.
Today, we are following the Animal Care Services Team. Every single day, these dedicated staff members keep the shelter running, from walks and feedings to cleaning, laundry, and the countless behind-the-scenes tasks that make a world of difference.
Most importantly, they provide care, comfort, and compassion to the hundreds of animals who rely on us. We are so thankful to our amazing staff member, Alex, who has been doing incredible work for over 3 years and for graciously starring in this first video of the series. Stay tuned as we shine a light on the people and teams who make it all possible.

| Thank you to Pillows for Paws for always making NYC shelter pets feel safe, loved, and cared for. Their mission reminds us that an animal’s emotional well-being is just as important as their physical health, especially for those who have faced hardship before arriving at our doors.
Their most recent workshop and drop-off included 112 beds, 125 tug toys, 300 catnip toys, and rabbit treats. We’re so grateful to Pillows for Paws volunteers who make this possible! |
| In the latest episode of Mythbarkers, ACC's Director of Marketing and Communications, Katy Hansen, joined hosts Laura Petrucelli and Yena Kim to talk about the realities of open-admission shelters. Together, they addressed common misconceptions about “no-kill” and municipal shelters, the rise in pet surrenders, and the shortage of veterinary care. Katy highlighted how ACC operates, the talented team behind our work, and why community involvement and rescue partners are so vital in helping Boroughbreds find loving homes. |
