| Shelters across the country are struggling. Intake remains constant and adoptions continue to wane. Access to affordable vet care, the cost of housing, and even the cost of food has impacted family's ability to keep their pets. The same financial pressures that lead people to surrender their pets are the same ones preventing potential adopters from adding a pet into their home.
So far in August, over 1,000 new animals have come into ACC. This is in addition to the 800 animals already in our care at the start of the month. All of these animals require care and support from our dedicated team. In order to keep up with this demand we are hiring additional staff, recruiting new volunteers, partnering with influencers to encourage adoptions and working with families to try and keep pets in their homes.
